The salary for this position is £21,974 which rises to £24,836 following a successful 6 month probation period

Overall Purpose of Job

 

To work as part of a small team to deliver a package of coaching, mentoring and training to improve the confidence and skills of young people in Kickstart roles, enabling them to progress into sustainable employment. 

 

To deliver a range of level 1 and 2 qualifications to a caseload of participants to enable them access a range of flexible learning pathways and motivate/mentor them to improve their skills profile.

 

Work with employers to support them during the Kickstart programme to ensure each role completes successfully, and they are assisted to retain employees where possible.

 

Achieve targets of mentoring number of sustained jobs and apprenticeships for participants

 

As part of the Ongo Communities team you will also be jointly responsible for contributing towards the achievement of Ongo’s strategic and operational targets and overall company aims.

 

 

Main Responsibilities

 

Coach and mentor participants assigned to caseload and support them to move forward towards a long term career.

 

 

 

 

 

Work with the Coordinator to design and deliver a programme of training and development alongside their role and ensure each young person completes their Kickstart training programme

 

Create and deliver action plans for each participant and record progress, outcomes and results.

 

Work with the Project Coordinator to plan and deliver a range of qualifications within an agreed skill level determined by the needs of employers and participants.

 

Ensure compliance with NCFE and other relevant awarding bodies.

 

Meet own project targets in respect of the project outputs and results.

 

Provide appropriate information for reports and data on progress and performance of the project and attend team progress meetings as required.

 

Work as part of a team to ensure the monitoring system is maintained to provide the key information, statistics and reports required.


Assist in the collation and input of monthly claims ready for checking and submission by the Project Coordinator.

 Ensure the effective sharing of information between key partners having regard to relevant legislation in respect of confidentiality and data protection.

 

To participate in personal support and supervision, undertake personal development training as appropriate to the post.

 

Undertake other duties and responsibilities appropriate to the grading of the post as considered appropriate

 

Creativity and Innovation:

 

  • Developing innovative ways to ensure young people get the most from the opportunity, complete the six month position and sustain employment
  • Designing a suitable training package to meet the needs of participants and ensure targets are met in relation to the required number of training courses/days.
  • Good oral communication skills, including the ability to use clear language within a variety of contexts, including public meetings
  • Ability to manage own targets that meet projects outputs and results
  • Understanding of the importance of meeting deadlines and communicating objectives and achievements well
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and ability to network and build relationships with individuals and organisations including other employment support programmes and JCP/work programme

  • Ability to make decisions, and seek clarification on areas where there is a risk to the organisation
  • An understanding of budgets and the need to allocate resources effectively
  • Ability to put measures in place to monitor outputs and results

  • The postholder will have contact with individuals in their role as a mentor, responsible for supporting them with career development to complete qualifications,
  • The post holder will need to have effective interaction with third parties including Awarding bodies, project participants and local employers
  • Working in partnership with professionals in the wider community

  • Work within set procedures determined by the Project Coordinator.
  • Ability to formulate solutions using own initiative.
  • Able to identify potential areas of risk, evaluate and implement resolutions.

 

Responsibility for Resources

  • Budget management (training resources budget for items relaed to each qualification delivered)
  • IT equipment including laptops and projectors
  • Be able to adapt accredited qualifications to ensure a 90% pass rate.

Work Demands  

  • Ability to work flexibly and outside normal working hours; delivering training during evenings and weekends as required to ensure the project targets are met.
  • Ability to meet deadlines that regularly change and prioritise workloads.
  • The post holder must be mobile.

Working Conditions

Mainly office based, but with a need to visit the Company’s offices that are spread across the North Lincolnshire area and potential customers spread across the Humber region.

Knowledge, Skill & Experience Required

 

Essential

  • Proven experience in engaging with a diverse range of young people and the ability to mentor, motivate and demonstrate energy and vision to young people.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiating skills with the ability to influence and inspire young individuals.
  • A level 3 coaching or IAG qualification or the willingness to attain it.
  • Minimum PTLLS qualification or equivalent
  • Proven skills in teaching and learning
  • Ability to work as part of a team to ensure co-operation from a range of individuals and businesses.
  • Self-motivated with a “can do‟ attitude, able to organise and prioritise own workload and be able to work alone, and with colleagues, without the need for close supervision.
  • Proven team player in the planning and organising of project delivery with the ability to work effectively under pressure, managing and responding to shifting priorities
  • Experience of establishing monitoring and record-keeping systems.
  • Ability to use a range of IT packages including word processing, spreadsheets, data bases, PowerPoint, Outlook, email and the internet
  • Ability to prepare reports and data on progress and performance of the programme and deliver reports in a variety of formats.
  • Ability to manage a training resource budget.
  • Good general education including numeracy, literacy and writing skills

  • Ability to transport yourself across North Lincolnshire
  • Ability to work flexibly with some out of hours working including evenings and weekends where necessary

 

Desirable:

  • A1/V1 assessor and verifier qualifications
